HOW I CAME TO BE THE ARTIST THAT I AM TODAY...

Alongside my artistic interests, I have always had a pragmatic side, which I developed further at a science focused high school; eventually this combination of analytical thinking and creativity influencing my decision to study Product Design at a university level. I feel that this is a field that allows me to bring both sides together, but what I enjoy most is its versatility, as it gives me the opportunity to explore a wide range of projects, from furniture and mechanical products to fashion and everyday objects. Now, in my third year, I am very determined in bringing my Romanian heritage into all of my projects by exploring traditional craftsmanship, motifs, symbols, and colors. At the same time, I have started exploring digital design, from creating digital sketches and prototypes to understanding how websites and applications are developed. I am particularly curious in this field, learning more about digital products and the role technology can play in the design process, offering new ways to develop ideas.

As far back as I can remember, I have always been drawn to creating. One of my earliest memories is from when I was around three or four years old, when my mother gave me a brush, some paints, and ceramic figurines she had bought during a holiday. She let me decorate them however I wanted, and I saw each figurine as a small, three dimensional canvas. That curiosity has stayed with me ever since, growing into a continuous desire to experiment with more materials, techniques, and ways of expressing myself. Over the years, I explored drawing and painting through different courses, learning academic drawing, perspective, and anatomy, as well as fashion design, pattern making, and sewing. I also experimented with many materials, from oil, acrylic, and watercolor to markers, pastels, and printmaking techniques such as linocut and wood carving. At the same time, I have always enjoyed exploring beyond traditional surfaces and discovering new possibilities in my creative process.
